Some days, the very act of writing exhausts me.

I show up to do the work, and wind up sitting there, chin in hand, staring at the screen in agony. I end up mentally drained and emotionally spent.

Photography helps.

Composing visually allows me to step away from trying to pull words into existence. When the words aren’t flowing, visual storytelling provides a brief respite from the drama of trying to catch words that refuse to be pinned down.

It’s almost a guarantee that this process, this distraction, will spark ideas and inspire the words to flow once again.

Who knows – maybe the writing Muse gets jealous.
